The second unique 'feature' of Yahoo Personals is the fact that the system asks for your real first name to identify yourself on the site, and not an anonymous, made-up handle.
For people in larger areas, this could mean a tremendous amount of emails. In my experience, however, I found We Match not to be very accurate.I checked off that a smoker was a non-negotiable for me, and yet several Yahoo Personals members showed up in my We Match list as did numerous people well over my stated acceptable age range (some more than 30 years my senior). With sites like this, the only thing that you can do is run away screaming. That’s what we do, because honestly, we don’t want to put up with anything like this for another minute. These sites are usually full of fakes, scammers, or anything else in between.
They don’t care about you; they just want your cash, and that’s about as far as it goes.
There were two things that I found unusual about Yahoo Personals, and both were more annoying than anything else.
Every time someone visits your profile during the first few weeks after you sign up, Yahoo Personals will send you a note saying you have mail.
It’s up to you to make sure that you’re using a hookup site that’s going to actually help you–but with our casual dating site ratings, it’s going to be one hell of a lot easier. At the end of the day, it’s all going to come down to doing what’s best for you.
Sitting around on a really crappy site isn’t going to do you a single favor and we know that. We know that you’ve got enough common sense to realize that hey, some sites are just really not worth it, and you can tell with a glance. It’s definitely taken us awhile to figure out the best of the best, but it’s worth it, now that we know which sites we can really trust. There’s no reason for you to ever go in blind again.
In smaller towns especially, this may pose a problem and therefore I recommend using a pseudonym for this portion of the Yahoo Personals site should you choose to sign up for it.
